Carbon-Carbon Coupling
Carbon-Carbon coupling is one of the key chemistries which is used for the synthesis of wide variety of products in pharmaceutical and specialty chemical field. At SGRL Sonagashira Coupling and Suzuki coupling have been successfully commercialized on plant scale level to help meet customer’s demands to manufacture the new era molecules.
About Sonagashira Coupling
Sonagashira coupling chemistry is a versatile organic reaction used for the synthesis of carbon-carbon bonds. It involves the coupling of terminal alkynes with aryl or vinyl halides in the presence of a palladium catalyst. The reaction proceeds through oxidative addition of the halide to the palladium catalyst, followed by transmetallation with the alkyne, and reductive elimination to form the desired C-C bond. Sonagashira coupling is widely used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials.
About Suzuki Coupling
Suzuki coupling chemistry, on the other hand, is a powerful tool for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds between aryl or vinyl boronic acids and aryl or vinyl halides. The reaction utilizes palladium catalyst and proceeds through similar steps as Sonagashira coupling. Suzuki coupling is highly valued for its broad substrate scope, mild reaction conditions, and tolerance to various functional groups. It finds extensive applications in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, natural products, and functional materials.
